BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (AP) — State workplace safety investigators are trying to determine why a trench collapsed, killing a worker in Brooklyn Park.
Authorities say the man was digging the trench at a public storage outlet Wednesday morning when he became buried in soil up to his shoulders and died.
Police inspector Todd Milburn tells the Star Tribune the collapse happened about 9:15 a.m. at Public Storage.
Milburn said the man was digging the trench for a foundation when the “ground collapsed and buried him.”
The man was working for a private contractor. Efforts to revive him failed.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s name.
