LANSING, Iowa (AP) – Iowa transportation officials will be reopening a bridge over the Mississippi River between Lansing and De Soto, Wis.
Spokesman Peter Hjelmstad told radio station KCHA in Charles City that repairs had gone smoothly but more work is needed. There will be lane closures while the work is completed, but the span will be opened Tuesday nonetheless.
The bridge carries Iowa Highway 9 traffic over to Wisconsin. More than 2,000 vehicles use the bridge each day.
The Iowa Department of Transportation closed the bridge last week after a crack was discovered during a regular inspection.
