A survey of potential work

By Jeff Moore

Get your links and chains ready, you surveyors of wild Wisconsin lands. Ready your bugs, boxes, guns or jiggers because three jobs requiring your surveying services and expertise have surfaced within the bowels of JobTrac last week and I know you couldn’t be happier.

This could have been written with all sorts of clever surveying puns but honestly, that was old in ’97. … 1897.

How often can you use “dipping manholes” as a double entendre before you want to sterilize your living brain forever? Enjoy a punless synopsis of the three jobs I mentioned above, below.

The city of Superior Public Works Department is seeking surveying services for topographical surveys in two locations, with potentially more to follow. Best hurry though; bids are due by 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The town of Mercer is seeking topographic services for right-of-way plat development for 5.5 miles of County Trunk Highway FF.  Bids for this project are due by 4 p.m. Monday.

The Lincoln County Land Information and Conservation Department is seeking remonumentation and GPS services in the towns of Somo and Wilson. Approximately 49 Public Land Survey corners in the area have no U.S. Public Land Survey Monument Record and that is entirely unacceptable in the 21st Century. Proposals will be accepted until 4 p.m. Oct. 27.
