CRYSTAL FALLS, Mich. (AP) — A new bridge on U.S. 141 between Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin is set to open.
Construction crews have been completing work on the bridge over the Menominee River in preparation for the Friday afternoon opening. The highway enters Wisconsin near Niagara.
The Daily News in Iron Mountain, Mich., says the bridge is a joint effort of the Michigan and Wisconsin transportation departments.
The bridge has three piers and 140-foot spans. It will be known as the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
It replaces an 82-year-old bridge, where demolition work began Jan. 10.
