MILWAUKEE (AP) — More than 1,100 people are expected in Milwaukee next week to attend an event on environmentally safe ways to keep things cold.

The International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration will hold its conference in at the Frontier Airlines Center in downtown Milwaukee from Sunday through Wednesday.

As refrigerants like Freon have been proven harmful to the environment, the industry is turning to ammonia as a natural and environmentally safe refrigerant.

The participants will be representing 30 countries. VISIT Milwaukee estimates the conference’s economic at $1.5 million.
