Straubel airport to reconstruct air carrier ramp

Brown County, the state and the Federal Aviation Administration are using money for a reconstruction project of Austin Straubel International Airport’s air carrier ramp that’s expected to cost about $2.9 million, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The state and the county will each contribute $147,500, and the FAA will contribute $2,655,000. The airport has two concrete runways. Reconstruction is expected to be complete by December.

The money will also be used to purchase a new snow plow and broom.
