WisDOT to hold info meeting for I-39 bridge work

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to present a replacement project proposed for the Interstate 39 bridges over WIS 153 in Mosinee.

The project would replace concrete bridge decks and parapets on I-39, replace pavement and add guardrail on I-39 near the I-39/WIS 153 interchange, repair concrete slopes under the bridges, and repair the WIS 153 median near the site, according to a WisDOT news release.

Only short-term interstate lane closures are expected during construction, and a temporary bridge will be built between the I-39 bridges to keep traffic moving while bridge decks are replaced. Some single-lane closures on WIS 153 are possible.

WisDOT expects construction to begin in fall 2014 and last a year, but it is possible that the start date could be moved up to spring 2014. If the start date is moved up, WisDOT expects construction would be complete by fall 2014, according to the release.

The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. July 26 at the Marathon County Public Library, 123 Main St., Mosinee. A WisDOT representative will give a presentation on the proposal at 5:15 p.m.
