Disappearing signs, moved barricades and repositioned markers are causing safety concerns on the WIS 65 project in St. Croix County, according to a WisDOT news release.
According to WisDOT, travelers are moving signs and barricades so they can drive through them and into construction zones. According to the release, this illegal activity can cause violators to receive fines, and in some cases, jail time.
According to state law, people caught moving or obstructing construction signs can face a fine of $326.50.
Forcing construction companies to move the signs and barricades back into place also causes delays in road work, according to the release.
