The Pleasant Street Lift Bridge over the Milwaukee River in Milwaukee will be closed for restoration starting Sept. 4, according to the city’s Department of Public Works news release.
The bridge restoration includes replacing the steel traffic deck grating, pedestrian walks and bridge railing, according to the release. Waukesha-based Zenith Tech Inc., the general contractor on the job, also will repair and replace the hydraulic, mechanical and electrical bridge equipment, according to the release.
Marine traffic, according to the release, will not be affected by the restoration project.
The Pleasant Street Bridge is scheduled to reopen in August 2013.
