Menomonie-based American Structures wins Ky. water line project

JACKSON, Ky. (AP) – A state agency has awarded contracts to companies to run tap water lines to 100 homes in a southeastern Kentucky county.

The Department for Natural Resources Division of Abandoned Mine Lands awarded the contracts for the $3 million water project in Breathitt County.

Natural Resources Commissioner Steve Hohmann said the Frozen Creek Phase 1 project will install nearly 14 miles of water main lines, a pump station and water meters at 100 homes.

The agency found that past mining in the area has polluted the groundwater in parts of the Frozen Creek area. The mining occurred before 1982.

Contract awards went to BRC Group LLC of London, Nesbitt Engineering of Lexington and Menomonie-based American Structures Inc.
