National engineering consulting firm acquires Wis. company

A national engineering and environmental consulting firm has acquired Lake Geneva-based Crispell-Snyder Inc., which offers consulting services in subjects such as municipal engineering, GIS technology, community planning and landscape architecture.

According to a news release, GAI Consultants Inc., which has 26 offices and employs about 850 people in the United States, said recent improvements in the economy made it a good time for the company to expand into Wisconsin. It said the acquisition of Crispell-Snyder was effective April 1.

Crispell-Snyder was founded in 1979 and employs 50 people. Its headquarters are in Lake Geneva and it has offices in Milwaukee, Madison, Racine and Fox Valley.

In Wisconsin, GAI Consultants now operates offices in Green Bay and Mayville.

Crispell-Snyder is the second company GAI has acquired in 2013. Earlier this year, it acquired the Florida-based Lotspeich and Associates Inc.
