UW-Milwaukee creates phone app for county info

MILWAUKEE (AP) — There will soon be a new smartphone application that’s dedicated to Milwaukee County information.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s new Mobile Innovation Lab worked with Milwaukee County to create its first product for the county.

The app will provide real-time GPS tracking of Milwaukee County Transit System buses, information on bus routes and schedules, maps of county parks, Milwaukee airport information and zoo events.

According to the school, the new Mobile Innovation Lab employs UW-Milwaukee students who work on real-world projects for school researchers and area nonprofits.

Michael Hostad, the school’s director of web and mobile strategy, expects the app to be available later this summer.
