Capital Brewery building new facility in Sauk City

MIDDLETON, Wis. (AP) – Capital Brewery says it will begin construction this summer on a new $11 million facility in Sauk City.

The new brewery is expected to eventually produce nearly 10 times the beer Capital Brewery makes in Middleton. Production manager Brian Destree said the new brewery will have a starting capacity of about 100,000 barrels. He said fermenting tanks could be added in the future, bringing production up to 250,000 barrels.

The new brewery will have company offices, a tasting room and an outdoor entertainment venue. Destree said it will be the “heart and soul” of Capital’s operations.

The State Journal says Capital plans to end its arrangement with Stevens Point Brewing. Currently, Capital beer is shipped from Middleton to Stevens Point for packaging. Some Capital beer is also produced at Point Brewing.
