MILWAUKEE (AP) – A new report shows sales of existing homes rose 15 percent in the Milwaukee metro area in August.
Figures released Tuesday by the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors show 1,862 homes were sold in August. That’s up from 1,619 in the same month last year.
Mike Ruzicka, president of the local Realtors’ association, said in a statement that August sales typically are good, as families looking to get into a home before the new school year starts close on their sale before the end of the month.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the August sales continue a strong year of home-buying in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties.
Projections show that sales this year will finish close to levels from 2001 or 2002.
