HURLEY, Wis. (AP) — A company looked to open a huge iron mine near Mellen is planning another round of one-on-one meetings with northern Wisconsin residents to talk about its plans.

Gogebic Taconite’s proposal has been one of the most hotly debated environmental issues Wisconsin has faced in years. Opponents fear the mine will pollute the pristine area. Supporters say it will bring much needed jobs to the economically depressed region.
