RACINE, Wis. (AP) — Racine’s mayor says a commercial-residential project planned for the city’s riverfront will be the largest redevelopment project in the community’s history.

Financial District Properties, Davenport, Iowa, has a $65 million plan to develop 20 acres of riverfront land, including Azarian Marina and two large industrial buildings.

Mayor John Dickert said the project will open access to the entire stretch of riverfront for the first time in about a century. The Journal Times says FDP expects to begin renovating the first building later this year and start the second one after the first building is completed.

Company executives say the project is still in the conceptual stage with many details still to be finalized.
