The grand opening of the new Cedarburg Public Library is unfolding.
Bid in May of 2013, the project is complete and ready to impress residents and visitors.
It took several years of planning, and city officials finally opted for new construction over additions and renovations to the existing library. Engberg Anderson Inc., Milwaukee, provided architectural services for the 24,536-square-foot facility, and Construction Management Group Inc., New Berlin, provided construction management services.
The new library was constructed on the site formerly occupied by the Emergency Government Department on Hanover Avenue.
The grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, with several festive events planned through 3 p.m. Some events include a community quilting project, a balloon artist in the Children’s Room, a photograph session with children’s mascot Joe the dog, a small art show, and library tours. In addition, a variety of music will be provided all day, along with refreshments.
