Owners: Door County Parks Department and Door County Maritime Museum

Lead contractor: Immel Construction Inc., Campbellsport

Lead architect/engineer: River Architects Inc., La Crosse, and Berners-Schober Associates Inc., Green Bay

Number of workers employed: 15 during the busiest times

Project challenge: The project team is restoring an 1869 structure on an island in Lake Michigan while ensuring the public can still visit the site.

Significance to the region: Cana Island has one of Door County’s most popular lighthouses.

Point of interest: Those who climb the 97 steps up the tower’s spiral staircase to a gallery deck are rewarded with a sweeping view of Lake Michigan and the Door County peninsula.
