MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A commission is recommending paying for three state highway projects in the Milwaukee area, Kenosha County and east of Hudson.
The Transportation Projects Commission voted Monday to recommend that the $670 million in projects get the green light. Whether the projects ultimately are approved rests with the state Legislature and Gov. Scott Walker.
The largest project, at nearly $450 million, is for expanding Interstate 43 for 14 miles between Glendale north of Milwaukee and the village of Grafton in Ozaukee County.
The second, a $129 million project, is for expanding I-94 to six lanes for the 7.5 miles east of Hudson between U.S. 12 and Highway 65.
The third, a $93 million project, would widen and reconstruct Highway 50 for 4.4 miles in Kenosha County.
