Ill. construction worker dies

WILMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — Officials in Wilmington, Ill., say a construction worker has died after being pinned between a beam and a lift.

Wilmington Police Chief Phillip Arnold tells The (Joliet) Herald-News that 33-year-old Patrick Wilda, of Plainfield, Ill., was found Friday. Arnold said Wilda was in the lift he was working in at the time.

Other workers performed CPR until Wilmington firefighters arrived. Wilda was taken to a Joliet hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Will County (Ill.) coroner performed an autopsy Wednesday and said a cause of death will be determined pending an investigation.

Wilmington police, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Illinois State Police are investigating.
