Eau Claire Co. treasury employee pleads not guilty to theft

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) — A former Eau Claire County deputy treasurer has pleaded not guilty to stealing from taxpayers.

Sixty-four-year-old Kay Onarheim entered the plea Monday in Eau Claire County Circuit Court to party to theft and misconduct in office. According to a criminal complaint, an audit of the treasurer’s office from 2011 to 2013 shows more than $625,000 in missing funds. The former county treasurer, Larry Lokken, is also charged in the case. Both left the office in 2013.

WEAU-TV says Lokken is due to be arraigned July 1.
