Man complaining about road work noise punches Ohio policeman

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police say a central Ohio man upset about noise from a freeway project near his home threatened construction workers and then twice punched one of the officers who responded to calm him down.

Columbus police say the officer ended up with a bloody nose after the altercation in the wee hours Tuesday near an Interstate 70 ramp west of downtown.

Workers called police around 2:20 a.m. to report that a man complaining about construction noise had told them he was going home to get a gun. The 62-year-old man had separately called police to complain about the noise.

Police say the resident cursed at responding officers and punched one with his fist.

The man was arrested on charges of assaulting a peace officer and obstructing official business.
