DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — The construction worker who died on Monday on the Bong Bridge between Duluth and Superior, Wis., was an 18-year-old from Stanley.
Kelsey Hagenson, an employee of Lunda Construction of Black River Falls, is believed to have died after being struck by a forklift. Authorities say the incident happened about 7 a.m. Monday.
The Richard I. Bong Memorial Bridge, which takes U.S. Highway 2 over a stretch of the St. Louis River separating Wisconsin from Minnesota, is in the second year of a large reconstruction project. Besides Hagenson, another employee of Lunda Construction was injured on Monday.
Officials have provided no further details concerning the circumstances leading up to the incident. Both eastbound lanes of the bridge, and one westbound lane, have been closed all summer because of the construction project.
