Apprentices from across the state compete Friday during the annual Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin Apprenticeship Skill Competition at the Washington County Fair Park & Conference Center in West Bend. Forty plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and electrician apprentices took part in the 26th annual event.

Four winners at the event will be moving onto the national contest to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., this spring. Nelson Brautigam, a Grafton native representing Faith Technologies Inc. and Waukesha County Technical College, won in the electrical category. Samuel Jones, of Madison and representing Dave Jones Inc. and Madison Area Technical College, came out on top in the HVAC competition.

The winner for the insulating category was Ryan Isbel of Ferryville, who represented L & C Insulation Inc. Daniel Harbison of Random Lake, representing Budiac Plumbing & Heating Inc. and Waukesha County Technical College, took the crown in the plumbing category.
