Repairs snarl traffic on Highway 441 near Appleton

WisDOT officials were reporting traffic backups Thursday on the westbound lanes where Highway 441 meets Interstate 41 just outside Appleton after repairs made to eliminate potholes did not “cure” as quickly as expected.

According to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, crews shut down both westbound lanes of Highway 441 overnight to repair potholes. The new pavement did not harden as quickly as planned and crews found they could open only one of the westbound lanes this morning.

WisDOT officials said they expect both lanes to be open again before end of the day.
