Fred Ruekert, of Ruekert-Mielke, dies at 64

Fred Ruekert, a civil engineer at Waukesha-based architectural firm Ruekert & Mielke Inc., died recently from early onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Ruekert, whose father was one of the founders of Ruekert-Mielke, worked for the company for 25 years. During that time, he oversaw the firm’s wastewater department and was the primary contact for the local governments that were working with Ruekert-Mielke.

A lifelong resident of Waukesha, Ruekert earned an engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree, also in engineering, from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In addition to his work at Ruekert-Mielke, he coached grade-school basketball for nearly 30 years at the Waukesha Catholic School System, which he and his children attended.

Ruekert was 64. His family held services on Thursday and Friday. He was buried at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Waukesha.
