Drug developer plans $34 million expansion to Madison office

Catalent Pharma Solutions plans to undergo a $34 million expansion and doubling of the workforce at its Madison office.

The Somerset, N.J.-based drug developer  plans to begin the 22,000-square-foot expansion in November. The project will allow the company to add 102 people to its Madison office, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

“This expansion will further enhance the Madison region’s leadership position in the pharmaceutical and health industries,” Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch said at a groundbreaking ceremony held Friday.

As part of the expansion project, WEDC will provide Catalent $1 million in state tax credits over the next three years.  In turn, the expansion is expected to generate an additional $4.5 million in state income-tax revenue over a five-year period.
