Western Wisconsin to receive federal assistance for flood relief

Gov. Scott Walker announced Tuesday that the U.S. Small Business Administration approved his request for federal low-interest disaster loans to be made available to individuals and businesses affected by flooding in September.

Among the areas eligible to receive the loans are Vernon, Crawford, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland and Sauk counties.

Low-interest loans of up to $2 million are available to businesses for physical damage and economic loss from the flooding.

Loans of up to $200,000 can be given to homeowners who need to repair or replace damaged or destroyed homes. Homeowners and renters are also eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal properly.
