A contractor working on the roof of the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee sparked a minor fire Wednesday afternoon.
All occupants and staff at the Pfister were evacuated just before noon after a fire involving roof insulation was reported to the Milwaukee Fire Department.
By about 12:20 p.m., the fire department had the fire under control, according to reports.
Pfister Hotel general manager Tim Smith told WISN-TV that construction crews are updating the hotel’s elevators. Firefighters said workers were using a torch.
