The engineering firm Communications Test Design has opened a new facility in Pleasant Prairie.

Privately held CTD, based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, refurbishes electrical and telecommunications equipment, including modems, smart phones and network equipment for customers in the communications industry. The company will operate from a 160,000-square-foot office at 8810 88th Ave. in Sun Prairie. Space there is now used for storing pallet racks, receiving, production, repairs and other operations. It supports customers and installation teams in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska, according to a news release.

The Kenosha County project is expected to create 150 jobs over the next three years. CTD employs 14,500 people in 96 places throughout the world .

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. is contributing as much as $600,000 worth of state income-tax credits over the next three years. How much money the company receives depends, though, on the number of jobs it creates and its capital spending during the period.

“The village is very excited to welcome Communications Test Design Inc. into the community,” Pleasant Prairie Village President John Steinbrink Sr. said in a statement. “They will be providing family-supporting jobs and improving the quality of life that we are envisioning for the Village of Pleasant Prairie.”
