The AGC of Wisconsin has hired two new executive staff positions focused on AGC’s legal and labor relations services.
Barry Scholz has accepted a newly created position of vice president of industry relations effective July 8. He served a variety of positions with The Boldt Co. for more than 25 years, including director of workforce development and director of labor relations.
Throughout his career at Boldt, he has been heavily involved with the AGC, serving on the AGC’s Union Labor Relations Committee and helping to establish AGC’s workforce development footprint in the Fox Valley.
In this new role, Scholz will manage AGC’s labor relations and help expand AGC’s workforce development and member relations efforts in northern Wisconsin.
He is a 1992 graduate of UW-Whitewater and lives in New Holstein with his wife, Christine, and three children.
• Derek Allen will assume the role of AGC general counsel effective July 22. He is a graduate of Beloit College and a 2011 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School.
After graduating from law school, Allen moved to Minneapolis and worked for the law firm of Winthrop & Weinstine, where he represented developers and contractors. He worked for the Shannon Law Office in Evansville from 2014-17 and most recently with the Sterling Law Office in Madison since 2017.
He resides in Evansville and has been the head boys basketball coach at Albany High School since 2015.
