Women in Construction Week 2022, which ran from March 6 to 11, was capped Thursday with a special event at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7’s offices in Big Bend. Organizers expected more than 130 people to come for networking, a panel discussion and a chance to apply for a sponsored trip to the Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference later in the year.

The speakers in the panel discussion were, from left, Ana Lopez, owner of Bulter-based general contractor Allcon LLC; Alice Westphal, a site superintendent at Mortenson; Connie Neibauer, project manager at Zenith Tech; Michele Williams, a journeyworker wireman at Roman Electric; and Christina Breitlow, a journeyworker plumber at West Allis-based Mattox Plumbing. The group used the panel to discuss their experiences as women in the construction industry.
