Plans called off for new Milwaukee concert venue

A rendering showing plans for the concert venue Summerfest officials and their booking agent, FPC Live, had proposed building in Milwaukee’s Third Ward. Those plans have been canceled, the developers announced Friday.

Plans for building a new concert venue near Milwaukee’s Summerfest grounds have been canceled.

Summerfest officials and their booking partner, FPC Live, had proposed 108,000-square-foot building on a 1.25 acre site. The building was to have two separate concert venues – one with enough space for 8,000 spectators and one with enough for 400.

The project, which was to get underway this year, elicited some opposition from residents. Among the concerns were that the project would lead to an increase traffic and noise and a shortage of parking.
Summerfest and FPC officials said Friday that they plan to still pursue the development of concert venue somewhere in the Milwaukee area but declined to answer questions about the cancellation.
