Northeast Asphalt Inc. is the apparent winner of a contract to rebuild a stretch of Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac County in the biggest bid to be accepted in the latest round of the state’s May letting.
The Waukesha-based contractor submitted an $8.53 million offer to rebuild 6.75 miles of I-41 from the southern border of Fond du Lac County to U.S. Highway 151. It was the only bid the Wisconsin Department of Transportation received for that project.
In other bids in the latest round of the state’s May letting, WisDOT received:
- A $6.06 million offer from Waukesha-based Payne & Dolan to rebuild part of State Highway 50 in Walworth County. A bid for the same project was also received from Janesville-based Rock Road Companies for $6.8 million.
- A $4.8 million offer from Custer-based Sheet Piling Services LLC to rebuild part of Main Street in the city of Jefferson. No other contractors bid for this project.
- A $3.08 million offer from DeForest-based Tri-County Paving Inc. to rebuild nearly 4 miles of County Highway V in Dane County. The bid beat out a nearly $3.3 million rival offer from Payne & Dolan.
- A nearly $1.8 million offer from Thorp-based Haas Sons Inc. to rebuild about 3.7 miles of County Highway D in Eau Claire County. The bid beat out a roughly $1.96 million rival offer from Amery-based Monarch Paving Co.
WisDOT has yet to officially award contracts in this round of its May letting.
