Jurowski, former Building Advantage head, running for state Assembly

Nathan Jurowski, a former executive director of the union-allied group Building Advantage, announced plans Thursday to run for the state Assembly.

Jurowski, who stepped down as the head of Building Advantage toward the end of 2021, said he is running as a Democrat for a seat representing the state’s 21st Assembly District, which lies mainly to the south of Milwaukee. It’s now represented by Jessie Rodriguez, a Republican from Oak Creek.

Besides overseeing Building Advantage, Jurowski is a lawyer with experience working with representatives of union construction, advocating for employees’ rights and serving as a public defender. He said his priorities as a lawmaker will include policies meant to ensure that people who work hard can succeed, that schools have adequate support and that protections for the ballot box, marriage equality and reproductive rights remain in place.

Jurowski lives in South Milwaukee. The primary for the 2022 elections is scheduled for Aug. 9 and the general election for Nov. 8.
