Drone photos are out as crews get ready to pour foundational concrete and construct the building core of the long-awaited Couture.
Crews will pour concrete for the foundational wall, first-level foundations and decks in the coming weeks, developer Barrett Lo Development said in a statement. Recently, crews poured a concrete base for a transit corridor for the Milwaukee streetcar and the Bus Rapid Transit System.
The building’s concrete and steel core have been constructed up to Level 4, and crews will build up to Level 7, the developer said. All foundational column pads and spread footings are complete, and the first installation of metal floor plates for stairs and landings has started. The first level is down, and now there are 44 left to go. Building plans for the transit corridor include pouring for 40-foot-tall columns.
The Couture was announced in 2012 and crews put up cranes over 2 acres of land in Milwaukee’s downtown in 2022. Developers anticipate the project reaching 600 feet with a 44-story apartment building.
