First Foxconn bid package released

A pair of bids for Foxconn Technology Group’s production plant in Racine County are now up for grabs — marking the first call for work on the $10 billion project.

Foxconn’s Industrial Construction Work Phase 1

M+W Group and Gilbane Construction Co., the project’s construction and design contractors, posted two bids for work on phase one of the project, which will get underway this spring and will include site work, materials procurement and the construction of several buildings at Foxconn’s manufacturing plant in Mount Pleasant, according to an invitation to bid released on March 30.

The two bids are for:

Soil-testing work
Erosion control, mass excavation and storm-water work

A pre-bid conference is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the SC Johnson iMET Center, Room 104, at 2320 Renaissance Blvd., in Sturtevant. M+W and Gilbane require contractors to submit a non-disclosure agreement to attend the meeting or access documents related to the project.

Bids for the first round of work are due at 5 p.m., April 16. Scope review and bid awards are scheduled to take place from April 18 to April 20.
