Josh Jeffers and his company, J. Jeffers & Co., are probably best known for their historic-rehabilitation projects. Right at the top of their resume are the Mackie and Mitchell buildings, two ornate European-looking structures, both dating to the 19th Century and standing on a block of East Michigan Street between Water Street and Broadway.
