A study of the proposed Lake Parkway expansion in Milwaukee County should help regional officials start firming up details on the project this fall, the chairwoman of an advisory group said.
Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik, chairwoman of the Lake Parkway expansion advisory group, on Thursday assured group members financial support would be available for the project, which would expand Highway 794 from its end at Edgerton Avenue south to Ryan Road/Highway 100.
The expansion, Jursik said, would improve access to the south shore communities of St. Francis, Cudahy, South Milwaukee and Oak Creek.
Earlier this year, all four communities and the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors unanimously supported efforts to have the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission develop a project study.
SEWRPC is expected to discuss some details of the proposed Lake Parkway extension at its next meeting in October, SEWRPC Director Ken Yunker said. By then, the project study, as well as engineering and environmental studies, should be available.
