Report: Shawano-based Owens closing its doors
Listen to this articleA longtime employee of Owens Inc. tells WFRV Channel 5 they received unexpected news Thursday afternoon when the company announced it was closing its doors.
According to the report on WFRV.com, Owens, the parent company of Owens Flooring Company™ and Owens Door Company™, had already made several layoffs earlier in the year.
In February the company was set to receive a $2 million financial package through low-interest loans and grants with the city and county, according to the story on the Web site. At that time they employed about 200 workers.
Owens has two plants in Shawano: a custom door and flooring company.
