Froedtert Hospital unveils plans for patient tower at Wauwatosa campus

Froedtert Hospital on Tuesday announced plans for a nine-story patient tower at the Medical College of Wisconsin campus in . The hospital system will need approval from the city before construction can begin.

The project calls for a 225,000-square-foot tower near the main entrance on North 92nd Street and West Doyne Avenue, according to a press release.

Froedtert will work with Cannon Design for facility design services and Mortenson as a general contractor for the project, officials noted.

The structure will include inpatient care floors, a new main lobby expansion and a bridge connector to a parking structure under construction across North 92nd Street, Froedtert officials said.

As of publication, officials haven’t shared how much the project will cost.

Construction is expected to start this summer and the building will likely open in 2027, officials said.

The city of Wauwatosa Design Review Board will review design plans on Jan. 18, officials added.

Eric L. Conley, president of the south region for Froedtert ThedaCare Health and president of , said the new tower is part of a strategy to address capacity issues and new growth. “This expansion will allow us to meet the growing need for our services throughout the region,” he added.
