The family that owns Mukwonago-based Campbell Construction will own the next Culver’s hamburger restaurant in East Troy next year, according to its members.
Retail builder Campbell Construction on Jan. 4 will break ground on an around 4,000-square-foot drive-thru Culver’s at 2557 North St., company officials said. The restaurant will be built on a greenfield and will employ a total of 60 people, according to an application.
The project was first conceived two years ago, but Jay Campbell, president and founder of Campbell Construction, said he had built Culver’s locations for 25 years. He said his youngest daughter, Brianna, got her first job at Culver’s after finishing high school.
“My youngest daughter, Brianna, is the general manager and part-owner of the restaurant. She’s grown up her life living and hearing Culver’s through me. When she went off to get one of her first jobs, lo and behold it was at Culver’s. She kind of fell in love with it. Here we are seven years later, building her a restaurant,” he added.
Fred Kohls and Scott Mallon will be part owners of the new Culver’s as well, Campbell noted. Kohls owns two Culver’s in Waukesha, while Mallon and his family owns several restaurants in Janesville.
Campbell said both his company and the hamburger franchise shared similar values and knack for quality.
“We have similar morals and values in Campbell Construction and Culver’s. Just like Culver’s is higher quality food, we pay attention to quality. We’ve worked very hard to maintain the relationship with the world of Culver’s,” he added.
The drive-thru restaurant will open in mid- to late-July, Campbell noted. Illinois-based Ollman Ernest Martin Architects provided designs.
