Milwaukee wants consultant to develop harbor district

The city of Milwaukee and Harbor District Inc. are soliciting proposals to complete a Water and Land Use Plan for Milwaukee’s Harbor District, approximately defined as the area east of South First Street south of the Milwaukee River and north of Bay Street, including Jones Island.

The 1,000‐acre Harbor District is home to the , sewage treatment facilities, a restaurant district, the headquarters of Rockwell Automation, the new University of Wisconsin‐Milwaukee , scrapyards with bulk storage, and roughly two dozen food and beverage production businesses.

The city wants to revitalize the area in a manner similar to the , building on existing strengths in water‐related manufacturing, technology and research.

The deadline for questions regarding the RFP are due by May 21. Proposals are due by June 2.
