The State Building Commission has approved nearly a quarter million dollars in local infrastructure and community development projects across Wisconsin.
Gov. Tony Evers made the announcement on May 13, touting roughly $248 million in funding for a variety of projects, such as hospitals, fire departments and emergency medical services, museums, libraries, galleries and other local infrastructure and community developments. The money includes $50 million in state funding for 71 non-state projects through the Non-State Grant Program, which supports nonprofit and local government projects with broader public interest.
“Our Non-State Grant Program has been a tremendous asset to local communities since we created it in the 2023-25 budget, and it’s great to see this funding receive support from the commission so we can get these funds out the door to ensure our communities can continue to grow and thrive,” Evers said.
The largest funding disbursements include $2 million each for:
“From community development efforts like upgrading our libraries, community centers, veterans housing, and investing in healthcare and emergency service infrastructure to maintaining state-run facilities and recreational spaces, all of the projects approved today are critical assets to keeping state operations humming along for residents and visitors alike,” Evers added.
