Crews worked for about 27 hours starting Friday at 7 p.m. until late Saturday night to pour the foundation of the new Northwestern Mutual Tower and Commons. About 10,000 cubic yards of concrete was expected to be poured for the foundation, which will support the 1.1 million-square-foot, 550-foot-tall, 32-story, expansion project. Plans included more than 250 construction workers and 50 cement trucks making about 1,000 trips to three concrete plants. The Milwaukee office of , Providence, R.I., and C.G. Schmidt , Milwaukee, have teamed to oversee construction of the building, which is slated to be complete in late 2017.
