Throughout her career at JP Cullen, Katie Muth has always been drawn to the chance to contribute to projects from outside the front lines.
She joined the company as a project assistant, when it was undertaking a renovation of the exterior of Milwaukee’s City Hall. Muth said a friend recommended she apply for the position.
She was then working early-morning shifts at a convenience store her family owned and was hoping to try something new. Although Muth didn’t know much about construction, she said the project team took her under their wing and helped her succeed.
Muth ultimately oversaw the project’s diversity requirements, helping to make sure Cullen was meeting the city’s hiring goals.
“The main thing that’s kept me in the industry are the opportunities for growth and the ways that you can impact a project without being on the front lines,” Muth said. “You’re able to support those tradespeople. That’s always been a neat part to me.”
Muth rose quickly at JP Cullen, taking on various roles, including executive assistant to division manager Larry Rocole, before becoming the director of marketing before the age of 30.
In her marketing role, Muth has worked to make sure Cullen’s work and aptitude stands out to clients. She’s played a big part in drawing up proposals that have won the company work on any number of prominent projects, such as the Milwaukee Bucks’ new training center.
Muth has also worked hard to support JP Cullen’s Healthcare Division, which the company founded in 2015.
“Katie has been an integral attribute to not only the divisions but also the firm’s growth and successes over the years,” said Jeannie Cullen Schulz, co-president and former Healthcare Division Manager. “She understands our clients’ needs and how to find solutions to directly relate to them.”
