Childhood interests in art, fashion and interior design led Julia Randles to know early on that she wanted to work in the design field.
“As the daughter of a carpenter I grew up in a house that was perpetually being renovated. That really sparked my interest in designing spaces,” she said. “I love how in the schematic design phase projects go from a vague idea to a real design that clients can get excited about.”
She began her career at CCI as a CAD Youth Apprentice and continued working there part-time while attending UW-Milwaukee. Randles stays current on new technology and environmentally conscious solutions, and is often the first to test pilot a program and attend training sessions.
“As someone who takes great pride in her work, Julia is always eager to lean into new challenges and help CCI present a beautiful design and sensible solution for our client’s needs. Her ability to bring a client’s vision to life on paper or via virtual walkthroughs and interactive 360-degree panoramas has allowed us to explore design-build options on a whole new level,” said Homer Auge, chief operating officer.
Randles is involved with the Skills USA Carpentry Challenge and works with the event team to develop designs for the competition. She gives back to Skills for the Future Youth Apprenticeship Program by mentoring students.
“No one finds success completely by themselves. I have had the privilege to mentor several students through Skills for the Future Youth Apprenticeship Program, and since I got my start through that same program, I know exactly how valuable that experience can be,” she said.
Randles volunteers her time and talents at Hendricks CareerTek’s construction and architectural design programs. While she enjoys participating in these programs, she also recognizes the growth opportunity it provides her team as well.
