A local developer bought a 34-acre parcel in the city of New Berlin with plans for future development.

Hales Corners-based Wimmer Communities bought the land at the southeast intersection of Moorland Road and Greenfield Avenue for $11 million, according to state real estate records. Cemetery operator Highland Memorial Park sold the land.

officials said they will present a new development called The Conservancy to the city of Review Board. The company didn’t share additional details about the development.

The site is near the Interstate 94 and Moorland Road interchange and is southwest of a Walmart Supercenter.

Milwaukee-based The Barry Company facilitated the deal and closed on Aug. 6, real estate officials said.

Selling the property faced many challenges over the years with wetland delineation issues, tree ordinances, access and right of way resolutions, zoning and comprehensive land use amendments and other issues that needed to be resolved while on the market, real estate officials said in a statement.

In 2023, Mandel Group presented plans to build a multi-family housing development at the Moorland Road and Greenfield Avenue site. However, the plans for around 200 units and a senior living facility fell through.
