THE BLUEPRINT:
A luxury paper bag maker associated with the world’s largest vinyl record producer will invest in a new facility in Mount Pleasant.
GZ PrintPak will invest $7.1 million in an existing 69,000-square-foot manufacturing space and production line at 13505 Louis Sorenson Rd. The investment will expand the company’s U.S. footprint to manufacture luxury paper bags and grow its presence in the U.S. Expansion will create 40 jobs, officials said.
The company is part of GZ Media, the world’s largest vinyl record producer based in the Czech Republic.
GZ PrintPak is the only U.S. manufacturer to have developed a fully automated system for producing recyclable luxury paper bags, officials said. The next project phase will include a production system for collapsible and standard rigid boxes and co-packing services for products, officials added.
GZ PrintPak is also looking to acquire a printing company to diversify its product portfolio, officials noted.
The new facility began operations in 2025 and is the company’s first facility in Wisconsin, officials said.
“We’re really proud to be here, because Wisconsin offers an ideal mix of workforce availability, infrastructure and location advantages – enabling us to better serve our customers across North America,” said Peter Levenec, the chairman of the board and chief commercial officer at GZ Media. “We look forward to building strong partnerships within the Wisconsin community and becoming a reliable, responsible employer in the region.”
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is supporting the project by authorizing up to $300,000 in state income tax credits over the next three years, officials said. The amount of tax credits GZ PrintPak will receive depends on the number of jobs created and capital invested in the project, officials added.
“Wisconsin is known as a global leader in the paper industry, and GZ PrintPak is the kind of innovative international paper manufacturing company that belongs in Wisconsin,” said Sam Rikkers, the deputy secretary and chief operating officer of WEDC, in a statement. “We welcome their investment in our state and look forward to their continued growth.”
The company wants to offer an alternative to overseas suppliers by using manufacturing unaffected by tariffs and providing faster turnaround times, officials added.
The Racine County Economic Development Corporation, the village of Mount Pleasant and Milwaukee 7 helped announce GZ PrintPak’s entry into Wisconsin.
