Foxconn Technology Group rolled out four new bid packages this week for work on its manufacturing plant in Mount Pleasant.
The new releases come after the company last week awarded nearly $13 million worth of contracts for the construction of foundations and other early-phase work on the more-than-800,000-square-foot plant that the company is building for the production of flatscreens, starting in 2020. Those contracts were the first to call for vertical construction on the plant itself.
Foxconn’s latest round of bid packages contains more than 20 contracts calling for not only for work on the plant but also related jobs such as the installation of lighting, security systems, landscaping and various types of infrastructure. Separately, the same release presents a revised schedule for an already let job calling for the construction of an electrical substation.
The lead contractors on the Foxconn project, Gilbane and Exyte, have said the work they bid out this season will move at a faster pace than that awarded last year.
Of the latest round of bid solicitations, the first package, 5A, is for the construction of the building enclosure of Foxconn’s manufacturing plant. The nine-part package calls for carpentry work, aluminum and glass work, the installation of roofing systems, siding and metal panels and other jobs. The bid documents will be available on July 8, and a pre-bid conference is scheduled for July 17. Bids are due on Aug. 2.
Package 5B contains civil-engineering contracts related to the construction of the company’s fabrication plant. The seven-part package calls for materials testing, asphalt paving, excavation and storm drainage, utility work and other jobs. The bid documents will be available on June 21, and a pre-bid conference is scheduled for June 26. Bids are due on July 19.
The third bid package, 5C, includes a contract seeking a master plan for the northeast quadrant of Foxconn’s property. The contract calls for the planning of a guard house, lighting, landscaping and signs, among other things. The bid documents will be available on July 8, and a pre-bid conference is scheduled for July 17. Bids are due on Aug. 2.
Finally, package 5D seeks “turn-key” design-build contracts for structures to support the fabrication plant’s operations. The contracts call for work on wastewater-treatment systems, ultra-pure-water systems, specialty-gas systems and a bulk gas-yard and nitrogen plant. The bid documents will be available on July 8. Bid deadlines for contracts in the package fall on staggered dates between Aug. 16 and Aug. 30. Follow @natebeck9
